Hard Lesson to learn

So yesterday I learned where NOT to park during a winter storm. I schlepped into work like a good, corporate citizen only to get home and find my car, towed and that I lost my keys. I had to get a locksmith to open my doors, cash to pay for the towing to collect my car. It was a six hour commute. What a day during the blustery wind and cold!!

Winter Slump/Writers Block

I think I have writers block. The short, cold winter days do not help find inspiration.

Fair Market Pricing for Parking???:

So there are some politicians in the major cities who have proposed individuals should pay higher prices for better public parking. Basically the premise is that individual parking meters will be priced differently depending on where they are located. I find the notion asisine because public parking should be the same price for everyone. What is happening in this country? What a ridiculous idea.

Taxes

Have you ever noticed those extra charges on your home phone or cell phone billed called Federal excise taxes? Well this year taxpayers have the chance to claim a credit on their tax returns to recover the "Federal Excise Tax." Afterall, the tax is truly a double charge so it makes sense - you can claim $30 or $40 depending on how many phones you have. Happy savings....

Dealing with difficult people

Today I am reflecting on how to learn from the bad interactions with difficult people and advice on modifying behavior.

People can be paranoid and/or just plain difficult. I have learned in order to deal with humanity at its worst, it is best to be friendly or just avoid them. Keeping everything 100% neutral without a friendly disposition can be uncomfortable and is worse than either alternative. Most often difficult people have no accountability for their actions and do not care about other people. You can minimize and overcome bad interactions by friendliness or avoiding them altogether.

Inaugural Day

They say that everyone learns something new everyday so this is a blog to write about what I Learned

I have taken on a new daily regime which consists of an hour on the bus commuting to and from Boston. Busrides are not always the best thing ever but podcasts have been my saving grace making the hour each way go by quickly. Today I learned that you can simply subscribe to a podcast by typing in the URL into I-Tunes rather than searching through I-tunes. My favorite podcasts are NPR Shuffle, BBC, Wall Street Journal Morning Update and Zencast.

Anyway, the ability to simply type in the URL is a a great feature of I-Tunes and I am glad to have learned about it.
